As the Canadian Naval Member for the Joint Permanent Board on Defences, Vice-Admiral Jones was untiring in his efforts to further and strengthen the ties of friendship and co-operation between Canada and the United States. As Chief of the Naval Staff from January 1944 to February 1946, he was responsible for the excellent integration of the Canadian and United States Navies which resulted in the complete defeat of the enemy in the Atlantic."
