The History of HMCS YPRES
Built at Toronto and in commissioned from November 13, 1917 to 1920, Ypres was re-commissioned as a training ship in May 1, 1923. She was placed in reserve in November 1923, but emerged from a 1938 refit as Gate Vessel 1 of Halifax boom defence. On May 12, 1940, she was run down and sunk at Halifax by HMS Revenge, fortunately without loss of life.
