"Since September 1939, Petty Officer Kendrick has served five years at sea, during which time, in the capacity of Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships' Gunlayer, he has shown outstanding devotion to duty. His zeal and energy are worthy of the high tradition of the Royal Canadian Naval Service and his personal contribution to the war effort is deserving of much commendation."
